Further, the New York State Department of Health (DOH) recommends the following ways to minimize the spread of all respiratory viruses, including 2019-nCoV:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when coughing or sneezing. If you use a tissue, throw it in the trash.
  • Routinely clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

  • Hello my name is Joseph Cucinello. I am very excited for these lifeguard trainings. I’ve been guarding and instructing at the YMCA for over a year. My four years as as a varsity swimmer on the Connetquot Swim Team has prepared me to take this next step in working towards being a beach lifeguard. I have noted the dates and times and will come prepared. If there is anything you recommend me do before hand please let me know.

  • Hi my name is Anthony Cucinello, I look forward to the lifeguard training on Tuesday June 2nd. I have been a pool lifeguard for just over two years, working for Trident Pool Company and The Patchogue Roe YMCA. Ive competedi on the Connetquot Varsity Swim Team for four years, motivated to excel and improve my skills with the ultimate goal of becoming a beach lifeguard my passion and leadership style led me to become a captain senior year at Connetquot. I am exciited about the opportunity and the training and look forward to making the transition to waterfront. I’ll make sure to be on time and prepared. If there is anything you recommend I should do prior to to help me get ahead, please let me know.

    See you tuesday,

  • Hi, do we need to have our American Red Cross lifeguard certificates before we take this surf test Because I’ve been trying to look for places that are taking classes for re certs for CPR/ AED and re certs on lifeguard/ water front. Do I need these certs before taking surf test or can I take it after? If you guys know where I can take it that would be a huge help looking forward to this safe summer season.
