Smith Point Outer Beach is closed to all vehicles until further notice due to the presence of unfledged piping plover chicks, the Suffolk County Parks Department announced Wednesday. A patron suffers a medical emergency

Approximately, right after 9 AM a patron while driving to the beach, suffered a medical emergency. Smith Point Lifeguards and EMT 9 crew responded to the situation. Victim was taken to the local hospital.
