How to keep our beaches clean?

Who doesn’t like going to the beach? Personally, I don’t know many people that don’t enjoy spending weekends or any weekdays at the beach. Suffolk County beaches provide us with great views, hours of superb entertainment and our families, children, friends and neighbors love it. However, it is painful to see each day pounds of trash left behind by patrons.

Did you know that at least 8 million pounds of trash ends up in the oceans?

One way to prevent vast amounts of trash left behind at the beach, is to think about what you bring there in the first place. Have a plan in place. It is always a good idea to have an extra trash bag, or any bag, to gather whatever you and your family/friends/children used that day, find a trash bin and throw it away. Surely, don’t forget to recycle whenever possible.

Below are some pictures taken this past weekend of trash left behind…

Please help us, help you and let’s keep our beaches clean!
