Smith Point Beach – September Nor’easter update

Smith Point Beach, Cupsogue and Meschutt have taken a beating from the recent nor’easter. Powerful waves and coastal flooding caused significant beach and dune erosion, with waves reaching well beyond our regular shoreline. Portions of the beach-access stairs were damaged and washed away.

Cupsogue managed to retain a fair amount of its sand through the storm. Meschutt Beach, however, was hammered hard, suffering significant erosion and noticeable shoreline changes.
