Junior Lifeguards 2026

Looking ahead to 2026…

Join the Suffolk County Parks lifeguards for their Junior Lifeguard Program! This is a fun opportunity for children aged 6-15 to learn from professional lifeguards. This skills-based program helps to introduce and expand knowledge of the ocean and the coastal environment to our younger swimmers.

The program will run on Sundays, July 12th, July 19th, July 26th, and August 2nd from 8:15am-9:45 am. Registration is required for this free program (parking fees may be charged to park at the beach). Register here: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/g/9Ld2ebVGMD

Ages 6-9

Meschutt Beach; children must be able to swim 25 yards continuously and must be able to go in the water and under the water unassisted. Parent/Guardian must stay; this is not a drop off program.

Ages 10-15

Smith Point County Park; children must be able to swim 50 yards continuously and must be able to go in the water and under the water unassisted. Parent/Guardian must stay; this is not a drop off program.

All participants are required to complete a Waiver of Liability and Hold Harmless Agreement for Participation in the Junior Lifeguard Program. The agreement is attached and should be brought with you on your first day of participation.

On program dates, please arrive early and check in at the lifeguard office with one of the captains at the beach. Please note this is not a drop off activity, parents or guardians should be present for the duration of the session.

Please bring this signed waiver to the first session. Thank you.

  • Hi,
My daughter did Jr Guards last year and we would like to sign her up again. Where can I do that? I tried to download the waiver but it rerouted me and said it wasn’t a valid web page. Thanks so much

    • No worries. We will have extra copies of the waiver on site as you arrive.
      Thanks for reaching out.
