Smith Point tunnels restored

Following the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy in 2012, the tunnels’ walls stood as a reminder of hardship— weathered, and stripped of much of its character. They were repainted a few years back… This season, however, a thoughtful painting and restoration effort has transformed it into a renewed, elegant passageway that reflects resilience and hope.

Careful color choices were made to ensure the tunnel does more than just serve a practical purpose; it now uplifts those who pass through it. Warmer tones and artistic details soften the hard lines of concrete, creating an inviting and cheerful atmosphere.

Enjoy the beach.

And remember… always swim near a lifeguard.
