Suffolk Parks Commissioner Philip A. Berdolt congratulated Bob Kolar, chief lifeguard, and his team at Smith Point for their outstanding performance during the long Fourth of July weekend.

Patron Jessica Roethel wrote, “I observed today’s lifeguard team for about 6 hours, as I watched my kids play. The job that the guards do is absolutely incredible. They are so alert and attentive, and they work so hard. They treat folks on the beach with respect. They are so professional and very impressive. I lost count of the number of rescues I saw today. They were phenomenal.”

The Smith Point team was recognized last year as the top team in the country.
