Air Quality Alert

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for New York City, Long Island, and several surrounding counties through midnight Thursday. Fine particulate pollution is expected to push the Air Quality Index (AQI) above 100, indicating unhealthy air for sensitive groups. Young children, older adults, and people with asthma, heart disease, or other respiratory conditions should limit strenuous outdoor activities. Even healthy individuals may want to reduce prolonged outdoor exercise if they experience symptoms. Staying informed about air quality can help reduce health risks until conditions improve and the advisory expires Thursday night.
