Tips to Avoid Overexposure to UV Radiation this weekend

Spray With Caution:  Spray-on sunscreens are quick and easy, but more can end up in the air than on your skin. For best results, spray on your hands, rub it into your skin and use 2 coats. Better yet, use suntan lotion.

Don’t Wait Until You’re Outside: Apply sunscreen before leaving the house. Some formulations can take up to 30 minutes to begin protecting the skin. Plus, if you apply it in front of a mirror, you’re less likely to miss a spot.

Reapply Often: Reapplication of sunscreen is just as important as putting it on the first time. Reapply every two hours when outdoors and reapply immediately after swimming or a sweaty exercise session.

Don’t Forget Your Scalp: It’s easy to overlook the scalp when heading outdoors. Be sure to apply sunscreen to your part and, if possible, also wear a hat.

Seek Protection: Protect your skin from UV rays with UPF (ultraviolet protection factor) clothing. Combine UPF with sunscreen for extra protection. Beach tents and umbrellas are also great physical blockers.
