Dead whale washed up at Smith Point
At this moment the SCPD says they cannot confirm if it is a humpback, but the whale is about 30 feet long. The whale was found about a half mile east of the center of Smith Point County Park.
Additionally, The Atlantic Marine Conservation Society said it was notified of the discovery by Suffolk County Parks Police and said it will conduct a necropsy — an animal autopsy. For more information please click here.
