A couple of days ago, Equinar released a simulation video of what an offshore wind farm will look like from Jones Beach, (approximately 40 miles west from Smith Point Beach) showing the turbines visible at 15 miles from shore. The video depicts the changing visibility, including the night time, of the project over the course of a 24-hour period with clear viewing conditions.
Equinor wants to build 174 wind turbines. Each turbine is going to be 951 feet tall. Project will produce approximately 2,000 megawatts of electricity on annual basis on a field that spans close to 80,000 acres.
