Two Smith Point Lifeguards nominated up for best in Suffolk County Football Awards.

Two of the Smith Point lifeguards have been nominated for the prestigious Suffolk County Football Awards. Ty Kolar, two time All-County linebacker for Sayville has been nominated for the County’s top Linebacker.

Additionally, two time all County wide receiver and defensive back, C.J. Messina has been nominated for the County’s top Defensive back and receiver award.

The Collotta Award honors the most outstanding linebacker in Suffolk, selected by the coaches. The award is named after Bob Collotta, formerly the football and baseball coach at Half Hollow Hills who died in 1991.

The Tom Cassese Award is given to the most outstanding defensive back in Suffolk. It is presented annually (starting in 2007) by the Suffolk County Football Coaches Association. The award is given in honor of Tom Cassese, the former Comsewogue Football coach and the winningest high school football coach in Suffolk history with 209 wins.
