SHIRLEY, NY — A vehicle was found in the surf at the Smith Point outer beach Saturday.

The Mastic Beach Fire Department’s water rescue team and the Mastic Beach Ambulance Company were activated at 3:47 p.m., fire department officials said.

It was not immediately clear if anyone was injured or if there were any charges filed in relation to the incident.

Suffolk County Police and the Suffolk County Parks Department both said, as they were not the lead agency on the investigation, they had no further information; Fire Island National Seashore did not immediately return a request for comment.
