….In my three hours on the beach, on a day when the surf was rougher, and the waves were bigger than I have ever seen on Long Island, I saw these heroes rescue three swimmers. With thousands swimming within the designated area the lifeguards are responsible for watching, these heroes spotted, ran down the beach, and rescued swimmers way outside the red flags….(8/1/2011; Christine DeLuca, Nassau County, NY)
