United States Lifesaving Association Foster’s 2001 National Lifeguard Championships Presented by Chevrolet
On behalf of the City of Miami Beach and the Beach Patrol, I would like to thank each and every competitor for making the Fosters 2001 National Lifeguard Championships (presented by Chevy Trucks) a success.
Los Angeles County was the winner of the Large Agency Team Championship. In winning their fifteenth straight Team Championship, they have set the standard by which competitive lifeguards are measured.
Delray Beach was the winner of the Small Agency team Championship. This will insure a place in history for our South Florida neighbors for winning the first ever Small Agency Team Title.
Heidi Hannenian, a true champion, was the high point winner in the Womens Open Division.
Victor Fox of Hollywood, an extremist in his training regiment, is very deserving of his high point honors in the Mens Open Division.
Please note a small change in the results. The change does not affect any team or individual titles or medals. We erred in scoring Deanne Hemmens, one of our sponsors and exhibition entries. We have removed points awarded to her in the Womens Open Rescue Board and the Womens Open International Ironwoman. The next place finisher was awarded the points in both cases.
Congratulations to all champions. Sincerely, Hank Oppenborn
