Cupsogue Beach County Park pavilion on fire, officials say

On Saturday evening, multiple East End fire departments responded to a significant blaze reported at the pavilion of Cupsogue Beach County Park in Westhampton. According to Suffolk County police, the department received a call regarding the fire at approximately 8:00 p.m. Officers from the arson squad were dispatched to investigate the cause.
Fire officials confirmed that units from Westhampton Beach, Eastport, Hampton Bays, Riverhead, and other surrounding departments were on scene. As of shortly before 10:00 p.m., firefighters continued to battle the flames, though no further details were immediately available.
Cupsogue Beach County Park encompasses nearly 300 acres on a barrier island located at the western end of Dune Road. The affected pavilion, situated adjacent to the main parking lot, contains a concession stand, restroom facilities, showers, and a first-aid station. The park is a popular recreational destination, also offering designated areas for camping and seasonal activities.
