Junior Lifeguards 2025, week #3

During the exciting third week of Junior Lifeguards Educational Program, both ocean and bayside teams worked very diligently and had a great time learning new skills. On the oceanfront, our Juniors started the day with tower entries, practicing how to quickly and safely enter the water from the lifeguard stand. They followed that with a run-swim-run relay, where teams raced around a stake, swim to the buoy in and out of the surf, building strength and endurance. Next came the 4 x 50-yard sprint beach relay, testing their speed and teamwork on the sand. Juniors also enjoyed beach flags, a fun and fast-paced game that sharpens reaction time and agility. To finish the session, they practiced “log rolling,” which helps build team unity and trust in each other in the water.

Meanwhile, over at the bayside, our younger guards focused on rescue techniques. They practiced the “Yoke rescue,” learning how to safely approach and bring in a distressed swimmer using teamwork and tow lines. Juniors also worked on landline pulls, where one rescuer enters the water while teammates on shore help pull both the rescuer and victim to safety. It was a fun and educational week that helped our Junior Lifeguards grow more confident in their skills…

…and remember always swim near a lifeguard!
