Heavy rainfall and a significant flood threat gradually shifts northward today from the northern and Mid-Atlantic into upstate New York. It is going to miss Long Island.

The center of Tropical Storm Debby was located inland over South Carolina. Debby is moving toward the northwest but is expected to accelerate towards the north-northwest and north across eastern South Carolina. Debby is then expected to move faster towards the northeast across the US Mid-Atlantic and Northeast on Friday.

The winds have decreased to 45 mph as expected. They are expected to increase again once the storm moves back over water tomorrow night through Thursday morning. The storm’s center appears to be tracking close to Long Island. Regardless of its classification when it arrives, anticipate heavy rain and gusty winds.

Debby’s center is expected to move offshore the Georgia coast later today… Significant risk of flash flooding over portions of Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina over the next few days. Debby is expected to come up North and visit Long Island.
