Major nor’easter expected tomorrow into Monday. It will actually be a “sou’easter” due to the wind direction and angle of attack. But we are looking at some very gusty winds and heavy rain with this. Monday we will see some very gusty winds on the backside of this system. Gusts to 60mph+ are quite possible.
A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for the Entire Area for Sunday & Sunday Night, AND a High Wind Watch for eastern sections Sunday Night.
Regarding the Rain:
A widespread 2 to 3 inch rainfall is expected, with isolated amounts of around 6 inches possible.
Regarding the Wind:
Southeast winds are forecast to increase to 15-30 mph with gusts of 30-45 mph. Stronger gusts up to 50 to 60 mph are possible Sunday evening into Sunday night for much of coastal Connecticut and Suffolk County of Long Island. Expect small tree branches to fall along with widely scattered power outages. Thus the High Wind Watch has been issued for eastern and eastern coastal sections.
It would be a good idea to bring all loose items indoors and tie down anything that could become debris or a projectile. Stay safe and heed all warnings.
